The COSRX Ultimate Moisturizing Honey Overnight Mask is one of those skin care products that I wish came in gallon jars, or at least in 250 gram jars instead of tiny, measly 50-gram ones. I love the Honey Overnight Mask so much that I use it two to three times a week, and now I’m almost licking the small container clean. No, it’s not actually edible, but yes, it’s THAT good.

This overnight mask may seem gooey in appearance and texture, but my skin definitely likes it. There’s no actual honey in the mask itself. Instead, it uses propolis extract (85%), sodium hyaluronate and allantoin, which are all known for their hydrating and water-retention abilities. Propolis is the substance used by bees to seal honeycomb and may have the same anti-bacterial and antioxidant properties as honey.
Slightly aqueous in texture and with a light golden color, the mask is easy to apply using clean fingers (no spatula is included). COSRX says it can also be used as a wash-off mask but I think that’s sacrilegious. If you want to attract all that lovely moisture to your skin like bees to honey, then why rinse it off?
My first jar all gone after 4 weeks of twice-a-week usage
When using the product as a sleeping mask, I discovered that it’s better to apply it 45 minutes to an hour before bed, to give it time to sink into the skin. By the time I’m actually and truly ready to sleep (after reading a few chapters of a book, and one last scroll through my Facebook feed), my skin has mostly absorbed all that lovely essence and there’s only a thin sheen on my face. I’m happy to wake up to skin that looks fresh, pampered and nourished. The smaller blemishes heal faster, too. To avoid getting any product on my pillows, I place a towel over them for protection.
So good I bought 2 more right away!
While not exactly a bargain at US$16.90 for the 50-gram jar, I highly recommend the COSRX Ultimate Moisturizing Honey Overnight Mask if you want to give your skin a real treat that produces visible results. Plus, the small size makes it travel-friendly!
